Follow the stars in Salisbury

Wiltshire is famous worldwide for its landmarks, architecture, history and beautiful countryside. These wonderful assets have inspired producers to use the area as film and tv locations, but would you recognise them on screen? Here is our shortlist of 5 of All the sevens’ favourite famous filming locations in Salisbury and Wiltshire. Why not take a luxury Hollywood-inspired tour by taxi?

Sense and Sensibility

Emma Thompson, Greg Wise and Kate Winslett were just a few of the famous faces in this 1995 costume drama. Trafalgar Park stood in for ‘Barton Park’ in the novel, around 5 miles south of Salisbury this beautiful privately-owned mansion isn’t open to the public but can be glimpsed through the magical woods at Standlynch on the banks of the River Avon. Wilton House, the home of the Earl and Countess of Pembroke, lies just west of Salisbury in the market town of Wilton. It was the location for a London ball in Sense and Sensibility. A popular film location, you’ll find Wilton House popping up again later.

Tess of the D’Urbervilles

Author Thomas Hardy lived in neighbouring Dorset, and several places in the area pop up in his books under new names. This 2008 mini series of one Hardy’s famous classics starred Gemma Arterton and Eddie Redmayne. The world-famous monument of Stonehenge features towards its dramatic ending.

Bridgerton

Bridgerton, the hugely popular Netflix series was a hit for the streaming giant earlier this year. Wilton House appears as Hastings House, the Duke of Hastings’ London property, as well as the homes of Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte who, in real life, lived in Buckingham Palace.

Harry Potter

Lacock and its photogenic Abbey in Wilshire has featured in a long list of screen productions. Look carefully and you might spot it in Downton Abbey, Cranford, Pride & Prejudice, Wolf Hall and the Other Boleyn Girl. Perhaps the most famous of them all is Harry Potter, with Lacock Abbey a perfect backdrop as Hogwarts in two of the films.

The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden starring Colin Firth and Julie Walters was adapted from the 1911 children’s classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is the story of a young girl who goes to stay with her uncle only to find a magical garden in the grounds. A secret garden sounds like a beautiful location doesn’t it! Partly filmed at Iford Manor Gardens near Bradford on Avon, if you go by taxi you’ll have the chance to admire the statue of Britannia on top of the picturesque stone bridge as you arrive at this romantic secret place.

All the sevens taxis covers Salisbury and its surrounding areas. We can pick you up at your home, the station or your hotel to visit any of the wonderful destinations in our beautiful county.

Look out for our new-look taxis

Next time you are set to climb into your All the sevens taxi, you may be one of the first to spot our new-look logo and livery.

It’s been more than six years since we last updated our brand and here’s our Facebook photo from 23rd April 2015 marking the occasion!

We’ve added all sorts of extra features lately. Our customers now have access to our new app, contactless card readers, Apple pay and a new hi-tech booking system at our Salisbury HQ. It seems like the ideal time to mark our progress with a fresh new logo.

With a fleet of over 50 taxis doing over 10,000 journeys every month, changing the logo on all of them at once would mean taking them all off the road. Not a great idea! With that in mind we’ll be swapping the logo over a few vehicles at a time, so for a while, you can expect to see both versions when out and about. We’ve already had lots of great comments from customers, we hope you like our new look too.

To book a taxi download our app onto your phone or tablet, book online or call us on 01722 777777.

Summer with All The Sevens

There’s no denying the fact that this year has been anything but normal! The Coronavirus pandemic has had and continues to have a profound affect on all of our lives!

This time last year we were talking about all of the upcoming summer festivals which were due to take place in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic many of these have been cancelled. HOWEVER, there is still plenty of things to do around our fabulous city and surrounding counties.

Here’s a recap of what the team have been up to during the last few months…

Our 5th Birthday

In April we celebrated our 5th birthday. We are extremely proud of the business and service we have built over the last five years and we are forever grateful for our customers continued commitment and loyalty.

Doing our bit for the Community

During the lockdown, our team made sure we could help out in the community as much as possible. All the sevens taxis had the pleasure of delivering the 1000th (and many others) food parcel for Wiltshire council.

Keeping You and Us Safe

As keyworkers and a duty to continue providing a transport service for other keyworkers, we made sure our vehicles and staff followed all of the COVID-19 guidelines. Chinastack Catering Equipment Ltd were excellent in providing us with plenty of bactericidal hand gel, masks, gloves and Virabact cleaning products.

We continue to implement these guidelines and can assure you that all of our vehicles are clean and safe and all of our team follow the government guidelines. Yours and ours safety is priority.

Extending our Fleet

As a growing business we continue to extend our large fleet of vehicles and we now have Salisbury’s largest fleet of 8 seater minibuses. Whether you need to get to work, get your children to school, are doing your shopping, enjoying a social distancing evening with your friends or you need to get the airport, we have a wide range of safe vehicles available.

Providing Excellent Service

We are always grateful for the excellent feedback and reviews we continue to receive from our loyal customers. We make it our prerogative to provide a first class service every time.

“Phoned after doing my weekly shop and arrived within minutes, very helpful, friendly driver especially in current circumstances. Contactless payment so was perfect. Thank you very much. Highly recommended.” Michelle Ashton (28th March 2020)

Once again we would like to thank all of our team and customers for their huge support over the last five years! To make a booking with us today, visit our website or call us on 01722 777777. Happy August to you all. Please remember to stay safe!

Christmas party season

With Christmas just over a week away, the festivities have begun. And whether you have a works Christmas party, a trip to the German Market or a family outing, we have all your travel needs sorted!

Get in the Festive Spirit

Christmas season is officially one of the busiest times in the taxi calender and if you are planning on having a drink or two, (it’d be rude not too) then you will need a lift in place.

Here at All The Sevens we are much more than just a taxi company. We can cater for your party; whatever the size, whatever your requirements.

Our fleet is made up of a range of different sized vehicles, including minibuses for the larger parties. Did you know that we also accept contactless payment? Meaning you haven’t got to worry about carrying cash or going to a cash point at the end of the night!

Open All Year Round

From the party season right through until the New Year, we are open all year round; 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Therefore if you need a taxi, give us a call on 01722 777777.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team at All the Sevens!

It’s road safety week

Monday 18th November until Sunday 24th November is Road Safety Week, a full seven days aimed to inspire thousands of schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and promote life-saving messages.

BOOST AWARENESS

Set up by Road Safety Charity Brake in 1997, Road Safety Week promotes steps that everyone can take to reduce and stop deaths and injuries caused on the roads.

Every year, the charity chooses a different theme of focus, this year it is ‘Step up for Safe Streets.’

Taken from their website, Brake believes we can all step up and play a part in the celebration of safe system solutions and the creation of a safe and healthy future:

  • Individuals can step up by pledging to use roads safely, minimise vehicle use and shout out for safe system solutions.
  • Schools can help young people step up and learn how to create a safe and healthy future and shout out for change.
  • Organisations can step up their policies and procedures to ensure they choose safe systems solutions.
  • Emergency service professionals can step up to highlight their vital role in helping keep us safe.
  • Policy-makers can step up by developing and mandating safe systems solutions.

“Every death or serious injury on our roads is a tragedy and each one is preventable. Step up for Safe Streets and do your bit for a safe and healthy future.”

Visit their website to find out more.

REMEMBER, stay safe this November and all year round!

We are supporting the surviving winter campaign

Here at All The Sevens, we are pledging to donate 10p from every journey in November and December to the Wiltshire Community Foundation’s Surviving Winter campaign.

The South West has the UK’s highest rate of fuel poverty – those who cannot afford to spend the average amount needed to heat their homes. Across the region the National Office of Statistics says 11.4 per cent of homes live in fuel poverty.

“We are delighted to be able to support this very worthwhile cause. You don’t want to think of anyone suffering from the cold and if we can help people by doing this then that’s great, We see it as giving something back because maybe some of the people affected have been our customers.”

For more details about the Surviving Winter campaign go to www.wiltshirecf.org.uk.
