Here is our shortlist of 5 of All the sevens’ favourite famous filming locations in Salisbury and Wiltshire. Why not take a luxury Hollywood-inspired tour by taxi?

Sense and Sensibility

Emma Thompson, Greg Wise and Kate Winslett were just a few of the famous faces in this 1995 costume drama. Trafalgar Park stood in for ‘Barton Park’ in the novel, around 5 miles south of Salisbury this beautiful privately-owned mansion isn’t open to the public but can be glimpsed through the magical woods at Standlynch on the banks of the River Avon. Wilton House, the home of the Earl and Countess of Pembroke, lies just west of Salisbury in the market town of Wilton. It was the location for a London ball in Sense and Sensibility. A popular film location, you’ll find Wilton House popping up again later.

Tess of the D’Urbervilles

Author Thomas Hardy lived in neighbouring Dorset, and several places in the area pop up in his books under new names. This 2008 mini series of one Hardy’s famous classics starred Gemma Arterton and Eddie Redmayne. The world-famous monument of Stonehenge features towards its dramatic ending.
